The Telegraph Information Agency of Russia (ITAR-TASS) was established in 1904 and by now is one of the leading in the world. Basic principles of its activity, especially in the recent years are: accuracy, objectivity and actuality in presenting events both in Russia and in the world. There are the guiding principles of hundreds of Agency journalists working in Moscow and in more than 130 regional centres, and also in 67 correspondent posts abroad. More than 1000 Agency specialists are maintaining logistical support of modern electronic means of proceeding and mailing information, graphic and photo data. At present ITAR-TASS general manager is Vitaly Ignatenko.
Today Agency information product is presented not only through its actual information line, but also with thematic bulletins and special editions providing data to central and regional newspapers, TV and radio companies, and to public engaged in scientific, military and business spheres of activity. Daily output of such data is around 4200 Kbt., that is enough to cover a hundred of newspaper format pages. In addition to that the Agency produces several dozens of photos and graphic pictures daily.
The ITAR-TASS accumulated one of the largest data banks in Russia, including photo archives of around 1 million pictures, as well as analytical and reference materials.
The main ITAR-TASS product is General data information line (Version 1), that provides subscribers with information about all actual events in Russia and abroad.
